MY SUCCESS STORY
Ada Awgu Beauty and cultural pageant is my first pageant and my first
step into modelling. I was naive and not sure am going to pass the audition, but was determined to give it a try. I went for the audition, it was tough as there were lot of more pretty and bold girls, but as luck would have it, I passed!
Then, I became more convinced and determined to pursue this dream of
becoming the first ever ADA AWGU. I had one big challenge along the line, which was speaking fluently in Awgu dialect. Have spent most of my life outside the shores of Awgu and Nigeria as a whole. I left Nigeria to India at a very early age of my life, and would come back and then go back again until I finally settled in Nigeria. So speaking my mother tongue became a very big challenge. But I was determined and highly optimistic, so I went into learning and personal general pageant training. Before we entered into the camp, I have already learnt a great deal, and very much ready to compete with other girls. Its true I dreamed to be the winner, but deep down inside me I was intimidated by other pretty and more determined contestants who made it to the camp. So I was praying to at least emerge as one of the top 5. That alone will make me very happy and fulfilled. I never imagined
winning other contestants, because they all showed how ready they were to grab the crown.
Finally when I was called up as one of the top 5, I made a silent
prayer of thanksgiving. (Wow, its a prayer answered!) Little did I know what awaits me. Then it was just me and one other girl that was remaining on stage, waiting for who will finally be crowned. Was still
grateful to have come that far, to beat other 8 girls to this stage is
something I call GRACE! I couldn’t ask for more, I was happy even if
am to be the second. Then I was announced as the winner, I lost
control of myself, I turned around 5times out of excitement, not
minding who was watching or the camera(smile) The feeling is just out
of this world. Am most grateful to God who brought me this far, and
the organizers of ADA AWGU BEAUTY AND CULTURAL PAGEANT for this
wonderful opportunity. Most importantly for a free and fair pageant,
amidst all I heard about beauty pageants and their partial judgement.
Ada Awgu beauty pageant proved them wrong and gave us a wonderful
event that is the talk of the town!
